How the 1% Match on RRSP Contributions works with Questrade Plus

3 min read

Starting August 1, 2026, Questrade Plus includes a 1% match on every eligible RRSP contribution you make, helping each contribution work harder and get you to your retirement goals faster. Terms and conditions apply

How you earn the match bonus

Starting August 1, 2026, Questrade Plus subscribers get an additional 1% match on every eligible net new contribution you make to your Questrade RRSP — that is, your total eligible contributions minus any withdrawals or cancelled contributions from the same RRSP account(s) in that month. Your bonus will be deposited into an eligible non-registered account (Cash or Margin).

If you join Questrade Plus partway through a month, only contributions made on or after your subscription date count. Contributions made earlier in that month are not eligible and are not backdated. For full details, see the terms and conditions.

When you get paid

Your bonus is paid out monthly, within 3 business days of the start of the following month. You must have an eligible Cash or Margin account open and in good standing by the last day of the month in which you made the contribution. If you do not have an eligible account at the time of payout, you may forfeit your RRSP match bonus.

Where your bonus payout goes

Your bonus will be paid out to an eligible Cash or Margin account to mitigate potential tax implications. If you have multiple Cash or Margin accounts, it’ll be paid in this priority order:

  1. Individual Cash account (oldest first, if multiple)

  2. Individual Margin account (oldest first, if multiple)

Which contributions do not qualify

The following do not count as a contribution:

  • RRSP transfers-in from another financial institution

  • Transfers between RRSP accounts held at Questrade

  • In-kind (non-cash) contributions

Annual contribution cap

The bonus applies to net new contributions up to the CRA’s maximum RRSP dollar contribution limit for that RRSP tax year (March 1 to the last day of February). For example, the limit was $33,810 for the 2026 RRSP tax year. Contributions above this limit do not generate a bonus. The cap resets on March 1 each year.

You are responsible for tracking your personal RRSP deduction limit, which may be lower than the CRA maximum.

If you transfer your RRSP to another institution

If you transfer funds from your Questrade RRSP to an RRSP at another financial institution, Questrade may recover all bonuses paid to your account in the 12 months before the transfer request is processed. This recovery does not apply to standard RRSP withdrawals. For full details, see the terms and conditions.

If a contribution is cancelled

If an eligible contribution for which a bonus was paid is subsequently cancelled (for example, to correct an over-contribution), Questrade may recover the bonus amount associated with that specific cancelled contribution. For full details, see the terms and conditions.

If you have Questrade Reserve benefits

The Questrade Plus 1% match on RRSP contributions cannot be combined with Reserve’s 2% RRSP match. If you have Reserve benefits and are subscribed to Plus, you’ll receive Reserve’s larger 2% RRSP match on new contributions.
