Exchange fees

Electronic communication networks (ECNs) and alternative trading systems (ATSs) are intermediaries that connect brokers to the market. They facilitate all transactions and add liquidity to the markets. ECNs apply to U.S. listed securities while ATSs apply to Canadian securities. In general, ECNs and ATSs charge fees whenever an order removes liquidity from the market. This may add on to the cost of your trade in addition to general commissions.

Currency exchange fee

When you need to exchange currency at Questrade, there is a fee of 1.5%. The fee is included in the total foreign exchange rate that is applied to your conversion.

All commissions are charged in the currency of the trade, unless otherwise stated. There is an additional commission for any trade called into the trade desk. Partial fills (orders filled over multiple days) are subject to additional commission charges. Selling U.S. Securities will incur a fee charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Borrow fees may apply if you hold a short investment overnight.

1 'Zero commission trades', '$0 commissions', '$0 trading', 'trade commission-free' and similar messages, refer to commission-free trading for trades placed online through Questrade, Inc.'s website or mobile apps for stocks and ETFs that are listed on a stock exchange in the United States or Canada. Other fees may still apply.

2 For options trades placed online through Questrade, Inc.'s website or mobile apps the base commission has been reduced to 0.99¢ per contract. The per contract rate for online options trading is 0.99¢ per contract.

*By claiming your 30-day free trial, you commit to a Questrade Plus subscription at the specified monthly cost ($11.95) that starts immediately after the Trial Period and automatically renews until cancelled. Prices are exclusive of applicable sales taxes such as GST/HST, QST, and PST. Prices shown are in Canadian dollars unless otherwise indicated. Professional Subscribers are charged $124.95 CAD /month for Questrade Plus.

Average monthly savings are based on the monthly price for each subscription included (Passiv Elite, real-time data package) and performing at least one journaling request per month. Actual savings may vary based on journaling usage.

3 Using borrowed money to finance the purchase of securities involves greater risk than using cash resources only. If you borrow money to purchase securities, your responsibility to repay the loan and pay interest as required by its terms remains the same even if the value of the securities purchased declines.
