What can I trade in a standard account?
Short answer, everything.
In an equities margin account, you can trade stocks (including over-the-counter penny stocks), options (standard and mini lot sizes, as well as multi-leg strategies), ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, term deposits, GICs and precious metals.
With a FX and CFD account, you can trade foreign exchange and contracts for difference.
It's your money. Keep it that way.
We pride ourselves on keeping costs low in all our account types. The centre piece is our great stock trade commissions. With the Questrade Advantage, which is activated when you register for an advanced market data plan, you pay stock commissions as low as 95¢ a trade. Don’t want advanced data? No problem. We also offer our democratic pricing model with the $4.95 stock trade.
Sometimes, low isn’t enough so we eliminated the trading costs altogether on a few products. You can buy any ETF (exchange-traded fund) for free; bonds trading is also free. And of course, there are no commissions on FX and CFD trades.
Investment growth is only part of the picture. The other part is streamlining all the ways you can add new capital to your account, such as PACCs (pre-authorized cash contribution), automatic deposits, and a free dividend re-investment plan (DRIPs are only available in equities accounts).
No problem. Standard accounts can be individual or joint. You can also assign authorized traders to your accounts, so someone else can manage your investments on your behalf.
